Cork City is famous for its live music and interesting characters. From the Cork Jazz Festival in October to the International Choral Festival in May (and everything else in between) you'll find something for everybody! Take a walk around the city and stop to listen to the buskers on Patrick's Street, or pop into The Corner House for a daytime trad session - if you prefer headbanging and a bit of Satan worshiping, Fred Zeppelins opens at 4 and has an excellent Happy Hour!

Besides all being musicians, all of these individuals have played in Cork during their career. Cork singer/songwriter John Spillane can be spotted walking around his native city, where he regularly preforms in a number of intimate venues . Whilst Michael Jackson famously sold out Páirc Uí Chaoimh in 1988 on his "Bad" tour, Nirvana failed to pull in a huge crowd during their support slot for Sonic Youth in Cork nightclub Sir Henry's in 1991. Years later, however, everybody would claim that they were there on the night where an unknown band from Seattle blew everyone away on their way to worldwide superstardom. If they can do it, you can too! Come along and play, or simply check out the local talent at a number of Open Mic nights in the City centre. Our tips are:
